What to expect
Starting Counselling
Counselling begins with courage; my role is to ensure you feel safe, supported
and able to explore your concerns with confidence.
Initial Consultation
I offer an initial, 30 minute, consultation to explore and clarify your needs.
There is no fee for this session. This is an opportunity for us to see if we’re a good fit.
During this meeting, I will:
- Explain the counselling process and what you can expect
- Discuss what it is you're hoping to get from counselling and what I can offer you as a counsellor.
- Outline practical details such as session times, fees, and cancellations
- Discuss confidentiality and how it safeguards our work
- Share how the BACP ethical framework guides my professional practice
Ongoing Therapy
Counselling gives you the space to talk openly about life events (past and present), feelings, emotions, relationships,
ways of thinking and patterns of behaviour with someone you trust.
As a therapist I will do my best to help you look at your issues and understand them a bit better,
giving you new choices about how to live your life.
How I Can Help
I regularly support clients experiencing:
- Anxiety and excessive worry
- Low self-esteem and confidence
- Relationship difficulties
- Bereavement and loss
- Stress and overwhelm
- Life transitions and change
FAQs
How do I know if counselling is right for me?
People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem,
relationship difficulties, grief, stress, or simply feel that something is not quite right in your life.
You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling. If you are finding things difficult, feeling stuck, or would like a safe
and confidential space to explore your thoughts and feelings, counselling may be helpful.
An initial session provides an opportunity to discuss your needs and decide whether counselling feels right for you.
How many sessions will I need?
There is no set number of sessions, as counselling is a personal process and every individual's needs are different.
Some people find a small number of sessions helpful for exploring a specific issue, while others choose to work together
over a longer period of time. During our work together, we will regularly review how things are progressing
and discuss what feels most beneficial for you.
Do you offer online counselling?
Yes. Alongside face-to-face counselling in Somerset, I also offer online counselling to clients throughout the UK.
Online sessions provide the same confidential and supportive space as in-person counselling and can be a convenient
option if travelling is difficult or if you prefer to access support from home.
Are counselling sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a fundamental part of counselling. What you share during sessions will remain confidential, with a few
specific exceptions that will be discussed during our initial meeting. These exceptions relate primarily to situations
involving serious risk of harm or where disclosure is required by law.
I will explain my confidentiality policy fully and answer any questions you may have before we begin working together.
